Sands Films & Brunel Museum

on

30th November 2017

The title of our day in Rotherhithe should be “Team Work”.

At Sands Films Studios we heard, and saw, how a team of about 20 can multi-task to produce a film, and all that it entails. Our enthusiastic guide introduced us to the different departments and skills necessary to produce anything from a 17th century bonnet (which some of us enjoyed modelling!) to a set design. There are generations of family members working together to produce internationally acclaimed films. Sands Films would like to make members aware that they do run a share scheme whereby you may invest/support the company. For more information please see www.sandsfilms.co.uk.

After a very welcome “home-made” lunch, we wandered around the corner to the Brunel Museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained all we ever wanted to know (and more!) about Brunel Senior, Brunel Junior, and their achievements – thanks to teams of intrepid workers. The Brunel Museum is an educational charity and is always in need of volunteers – please see www.brunel-museum.org.uk if interested in supporting their efforts.

A most enjoyable and informative, though chilly, day in Rotherhithe.
