Supper at The University Women's Club

26th September 2014

Enjoying the reception fizz in the garden of the University Women's Club. An ideal location for a warm and pleasant evening.

After an excellent two course meal with wine and coffee, attendees were treated to an array of varying entertainments. MC for the evening was Club Member Mr Jeff Kelly, who introduced us first to Steve Daykin on Piano and his wife, Heather on Flute, who proceeded to play a number of excellent duets.

Following this, the Master, Miss Jan Yerbury, provided a re-telling of one of Joyce Grenfell's brilliant monologues entitled "Nursery School - Going Home".

Jeff was then joined by two guests, Peter Westbury and Sally Cannon, who entertained us all with further readings including ones by Victoria Wood, Pam Ayres, Stanley Holloway, and Club member, Colleen McMath.

Then came a Musical Finale with Steve and Heather once again presenting some brilliant music for piano and flute (click on the blue button below to hear an example).

This was the Master's final event in a year containing 12 very well-attended outings. The incoming Master (elect), Mr Ron Wood, proposed a toast to the current Master recognising her very successful year and noting that it will be a hard act to follow.
