Visit to Wimbledon Tennis

On a bitterly cold Mothering Sunday, twenty-four members visited Wimbledon, to explore the most famous tennis courts in the world. We sat inside both the Centre Court and Number One Court, and our tour of the grounds included Henman Hill (or is it Murray Mound?), the media interview terrace, and the studio where players hold their press conferences. Our entertaining guide was a fount of knowledge about Wimbledon and full of amusing anecdotes.
We also visited The Tennis Museum, which is a fascinating collection, inspiringly displayed with 3-D videos and photographs of memorable moments. It covers the very beginnings of tennis (and croquet), through to the modern day. The familiar Wimbledon trophies are on display, and there is even a scarily convincing life-size hologram of John McEnroe ranting on, as he does!
After the tour, we enjoyed a convivial lunch in the Wingfield Café within the Wimbledon grounds.
